Day 20: Let’s compare! My discoveries about TraVerus

Welcome back to BizLaunchBlog.com! Thanks for following me on my quest to launch and develop an online business as a gift for my wife. Share your advice, comment on a post and tell your friends... Peace, JMichael

Business research always seems to go better on a full stomach

Business research always seems to go better on a full stomach

Hold on, I’ve got to pull my pizza out of the oven…

Sorry about that but one cannot have a burned pizza to offer up to a tribe of 6 hungry kiddos, can one…

But enough of the pizza talk, on with what we are here for: my discoveries about the TraVerus business.  Read on and let me know what you think.  If you didn’t catch yesterday’s post please check it out as I am comparing Travelencia (which i reviewed yesterday) to TraVerus.

TraVerus

  • combination direct selling & network marketing company
  • you can become a Referring Travel Consultant or a Certified Travel Agent
  • provides training to become a Certified Travel Agent
  • agents with $5000 in commissions qualify to receive an IATAN card
  • offers travel booking through your own online portal
    • Hotels
    • Airline tickets
    • Vacation Packages
    • Condo Resorts Worldwide
    • Cruises
    • Car Rentals
    • Theme Park, Museums, Zoos, Family Fun Centers
    • Personal travel assistance
    • Honeymoons
  • profits are made when people book travel through your online portal and when you enlist people to start their own TraVerus travel business and encourage them to do the same
  • plans numerous ‘members-only’ (I guess i should bust out my jacket from the 80s) vacation packages throughout the year at discount prices for all members, (these allow you to include up to 6 family members at the same price.  I need to look into this considering I have 7 family members I would like to include, the mrs. and my 6 kiddos!)
  • Check out this overview video:

  • Here is information from their website about their compensation plan:

Travel Commissions

Referral Travel Consultants earn:

  • 65% of the commission rate for travel booked direct through their personalized booking engine.
  • 20% of the commission rate on travel that they refer to TraVerus to be booked.

Certified Travel Agents earn:

  • 75% of the commission rate for all travel booked on their own personalized booking engine.
  • 75% of the commission rate when booked direct with the suppliers. REQUIREMENT: complete the CTA Travel Training.
  • 20% of the commission rate on travel that they refer to TraVerus to be booked.

Its like having your own virtual travel agency when you earn a percentage of the travel commissions they earn!   *No travel commission paid on bookings that contain only airfare.

Personal Sales

As a Referring Travel Consultant or a Certified Travel Agent, you may now earn Personal Sales Commissions on sales that YOU generate.

On each “Referring Travel Consultant Package”:
  • RTCs earn – $50.00
  • CTAs earn – $50.00
  • Executives earn – $50.00
On each “Certified Travel Agent Package”:
  • RTCs earn – $70.00
  • CTAs earn – $80.00
  • Executives earn – $100.00

The diagram below shows an example of Personal Sales Commissions.

Commissions Diagram

  • If you are an RTC and Shawn purchases the Certified Travel Agent Package you get $70.00
  • If you are a CTA and Shawn purchases the Certified Travel Agent Package you get $80.00
  • If you are an Executive and Shawn purchases the Certified Travel Agent Package you get $100.00

There is No Limit on the number of Agent Packages that qualify for this Personal Sales Commission.

Personal Sales Enroller Bonus – You earn 50% of all Personal sales commissions earned by your personally enrolled Agents.

When you become an RTC or CTA, you may earn Personal Sales Commissions and other Bonus Commissions from the Traverus Travel Agent Commission Program, which is explained in the next few sections!

Coded Bonus

Qualified Agents are paid “Coded Bonus” commissions on all personally generated sales after your first 2 sales – with no limits. So, beginning with your third personal sale, you will be eligible to earn both the “Personal Sales” commissions AND “Coded Bonus” commissions.

On each “Referring Travel Consultant Package”:
  • RTCs earn – $20.00
  • CTAs earn – $20.00
  • Executives earn – $20.00
On each “Certified Travel Agent Package”:
  • RTCs earn – $30.00
  • CTAs earn – $40.00
  • Executives earn – $50.00

The diagram below shows an example of Coded Bonus Commissions:

Commissions Diagram
In this diagram, all these people purchased “Certified Travel Agent” Packages and you are a CTA.

Not only will you be “coded” to these sales, but you will be “coded” to their first 2 sales and the first 2 sales of their first 2 and so on.

Commissions Diagram
In this diagram, all levels shown purchased “Certified Travel Agent” Packages.

Matching Coded Bonus

If you are a Qualified Traverus Referring Travel Consultant Agent or Certified Travel Agent and you personally sponsor at least one Qualified CTA or RTC – you are eligible to receive “Matching Coded Bonus” commissions on any “Coded Bonus” commissions “your” Agents earn. This is really exciting, because if they earn “Coded Bonus” commissions, you are eligible to earn a 150% or 100% match, as described below:

First Two Personally Sponsored Agents (150%):

On your first two personally sponsored RTCs or CTAs, you are eligible to receive 150% “Matching Coded Bonus” on the commissions they earn from “Coded Bonuses”. If you are a RTC, CTA or Executive For every $20 Coded Bonus that your first two personally sponsored Agents earn, you will earn $30. If you are a RTC, CTA or Executive for every $40 Coded Bonus that your first two personally sponsored Agents earn, you will earn $60.

The diagram below shows an example of Matching Coded Bonus Commissions:

Commissions Diagram
In this diagram, all levels shown purchased “Certified Travel Agent” Packages.

From Third Personally Sponsored Agent On (100%):

In addition, starting from your third personally sponsored Agent, you will be eligible to receive a 100% “Matching Coded Bonus” on the commissions they earn from the “Coded Bonus”. So, for every $40 Coded Bonus they earn, you earn $40 also. For every $20 Coded Bonus they earn, you earn $20 also.

The diagram below shows an example of Matching Coded Bonus Commissions:

Commissions Diagram
In this diagram, all levels shown purchased “Certified Travel Agent” Packages.

  • OK… the compensation plan continues from here but gets a bit crazy with Executive bonuses, etc…
  • So, how much does it cost to join TraVerus? $119.95 start-up fee as a Referral Travel Consultant (RTC) -or- $399.90 start-up fee as a Certified Travel Agent (CTA).  The start-up fees include your first month of website fees (see next item).
  • What are the ongoing fees? $59.95/month (which covers your online travel booking website that uses the Revelex pricing system… from what I understand, this Revelex system is better than what many other online travel agents have access to.)

Any thoughts?  Shoot me an email or post a comment, please. I need your advice on this… tough decision!

    JMichael,

It looks like you have really done your homework.

Before you invest your families hard earned money, go to your favorite bookstore and pick up a copy of the International Best Seller by Dr. Dennis Cauvier and Alan Lysaght (the Abc guys)You can google them. There latest book is called “the ABC’s of Making Money.” They lay out very clearly what to and not to look for in not just a Home Based Business but any business. They have put together 15 points to judge any company by. Make sure you check out pages 194-195. It’s a very interesting read. Especially since you are looking into the TRAVEL industry.

    Do your due dilligence.

    Have a Great Weekend!

    Randy,

I am trying to do my homework :)

I will check on the book you suggested. If I am not mistaken you are involved with YTB, right? I have come across a lot of bad press for YTB… a bunch of legal issues and what not? Do you know anything about that?

    Just curious…

    Thanks again for the insights!

    Peace,
    JMichael

I have read that book and it is awesome.I am in YTB and have been for two years now. If you would like send me a shout out to my email and I will tell you about the PRESS. Just like any company that is very successful there is going to be bad press and people to try and spoil it for others. Look at Microsoft. Do you knjow how many times they have been sued. Too many to count. Those who still work for the brick and mortore travel agencies are very threaten by us. The travel business is awesome and I love it. It is my full time job. I retired last year from my other J O B!!!!! I am 37. We sell recess HELLO……
Let me know your thoughts. I will be happy to answer any questions for you.

I put together an ecourse a few months back that spends some time helping folks determine how to select a great network marketing company. Here are the list of things that I believe to be the foundation for choosing a good company.

A good network marketing company is the foundation of your entire business plan. Choose a company that:
    a. Has Good Leadership
    i. The leadership should be
    1. honest,
    2. professional,
    3. savvy and
    4. ideally should have had a network marketing background before starting the company.
ii. The last one is hard to find and can mean the difference between a company that seeks to help you the reps or only itself.
iii. You don’t want to pour your heart, time, money and energy into a company that doesn’t have good executive leadership.

    b. Has Strong Financial Backing
    i. You’re going to work too hard for the company not to be around 6 months or a year after you start.
ii. Make sure they can weather any storms that may arise financially until sales pick up

    c. Is Committed To Standing Behind the Product

    i. There are distinctly two parts to a network marketing company; the recruiting engine and the product.
ii. The quality of the product will always play a major part in your success, however it’s all for not if the product is not supported and your customers can’t get the help they will inevitably need.

    d. Has A Great Product/Service
    i. This should be obvious, but let’s not overstate the thing either.
ii. The product needs to be dynamic either in it’s
    1. efficacy,
    2. uniqueness (can’t go to wal mart and get it) and/or
    3. price point (can’t get it this cheap anywhere else).
iii. Ideally it needs to be something that is recession proof so that your sales/customers don’t fall off in a recession such as the one we’re in at the time of this writing. The best feature is something they are already using or a close second is a product that saves them money on things they are already doing.
iv. It must be consumable (meaning it has to be purchased every month) so that it provides you with a passive residual income
    v. However, as I said, let’s not overstate this either. The product is important, but using the right marketing engine you can build a huge business with almost any company and any product. McDonalds does NOT have the best hamburgers, but the franchise owners don’t care too much cause they are making money and people still buy them.
    e. Is Structured For Quick Income For Newbies
    i. You will likely sponsor both experienced marketers AND network marketing newbies, BUT there’s one thing that does more to insure the success of a newbie than anything else; getting them paid more than $300 as soon as possible.
ii. Another benefit/perk is if they can earn more than the initial startup costs back extremely fast.
iii. Getting people to a profitable business fast helps them build their story and they can then just tell their story to get things to fall into place.
    f. Has A Solid Comp Plan
    i. Again this should be obvious but again shouldn’t be overstated either.
ii. The stronger the compensation plan the more money you and your team stand to make with less effort.
iii. Don’t work harder, work smarter; choosing a company with an excellent comp plan is part of that.
iv. Again though, I need to stress excellent, life changing money can be made with almost any company if you have the right marketing engine in place.

That is a very insightful outline you have provided and one I will adopt. In fact, it has inspired me! Stay tuned to see what comes of it…
